Financing Microgrid Distributed Energy Efficiency Solutions
Wednesday, June 29, 2016:

1:00 - 2:30 pm Eastern US Time

While there have been significant advances in generation technologies and advanced controls systems, acceleration of the market will require innovation in the approach to financing. Microgrid projects involve integration of multiple conventional, renewable, and energy efficiency technologies into a functional system that provides multiple benefits to the user. There is also the potential to capture multiple benefits from federal and state incentive programs targeted at spurring development of renewable and resilient energy systems. Complexity of these projects is further complicated by the relatively small scale, in capital cost, which makes structured finance on a project-by-project basis a difficult proposition.

Consequently, microgrid financing can draw upon a wide range of financing techniques already found in venture capital situations, middle market operations, public finance and pooled securitized projects. Lessons learned from these alternative approaches can provide a basis for a successful and repeatable model for microgrid project financing.

We have assembled a group of panelists who will bring legal, entrepreneurial, project, venture capital and strategic perspectives to obtaining microgrid finance. Join us for a lively, interactive dialogue on how best to go about pursuing and finding financing for microgrid projects!
